Final Exam Blog

So, it looks like it is already the end of the semester. I cannot believe that it is ending so soon-- it seems like I just leapt over to the Comm department yesterday. Comm 203 has taught me, that if you want something in life, you have to go after it, and most likely do a lot of things that you do not like in order to get there first. It has taught me that although one person may have a really great idea, it takes an entire group to turn a well-developed thought into a full blown creation. It takes patience, self-discipline, and a lot of passion for what you truly want to do. However, the most important thing that I have learned above all else is that Communications gives you so many options to become whoever you truly want to be-- the possibilities are endless! I have really enjoyed this blog, and if I have an opportunity to blog in other classes, then you will definitely being seeing more from this blog. But, regardless of whether or not another class ever asks me to blog again, this is definitely not the last you will see of me! I am still just as passionate and determined to find my niche in this life, and now that I have found the Comm department, it is time for me to venture and find where my heart is in this fine place.

I would like to end my semester with a nice tune... hats off to a great start!

JAY-OH-BEE.

The first thing that I noticed after reading the Advertisement chapter in the text was the very *wide* range that advertisers really have to work with as a career! As much as this job is not just about making money, it is also for me to find out if I'm going to be the future "struggling artist" worried of how to feed her children and herself or where I'll be treating the entire family to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for the rest of my life. However, after a little bit of research, unfortunately, I crossed upon the fact that it will be left up to the future. The text said that advertisers can be paid anywhere from about $20,000 to $137,000! This is not okay! With a wide range like that, who needs planning?! I have not been one to particularly plan life about step by step, because, granted, life happens, but who knew this salary would be so up in the air?! I think the worst part of it all is that I am almost willing to take that risk! In my opinion, in order to be successful in life you need three things: connections, good timing, and a little bit of luck, but most importantly (above all else)-- BALLS! If you are not willing to take risks in life, then expect to not get much out of your future, but anyway, I digress.

While I have not specifically narrowed down exactly what type of advertising I would like to do (whether it be commercial editing, print ads, etc.) I am trying to keep my options as open as possible so that I can learn a wide variety and as much information as possible. If knowledge is power, then I want to be pretty darn powerful!

Here are two other websites that I found that gave additional information to the advertising career:

Come-YOU-Nih-K-shuns.

HELLO:),

I am fairly new to the blogging world and am looking forward to what opportunities are here to awaken my mind. I recently have switched from being an English major to a Communications major and it is the best decision I feel that I have made for my professional career/future thus far. My hope is to work for some amazing companies that can use me as their clay to mold me into the perfect candidate to push their company to the next level! I am not necessarily looking for a company that will have to shape me into something that they are looking for to hire, but for my tools to become versatile enough to satisfy any company's needs to that particular situation. I believe that as far as a career is concerned, especially in communications, it is a learning process. You may not know everything walking in the door, but if you take what you know in addition to the information that is already out there, you can know anything and everything you want to take yourself to the next level!
